AMY MATYSIO - Carla
Amy Matysio is pure prairie fire. An award winning Canadian stage
and screen actress, improviser/writer, producer and host with over
100 credits to her name and accolades that include Playback’s Ten
to Watch, CBC's Future 40 and ELLE Canada’s On the Radar.
Matysio is the creator, writer, co-producer and star of the critically
acclaimed web comedy inSAYSHAble, which garnered her a
seventh Canadian Comedy Award nomination, a "Best Actress" win
at both LA WebFest and HollyWeb and a recent "Best Actress" nod
at New York Web Fest.
She appears as Penny in CTVExtend/Hulu's comedy Space Riders, the recently released indie feature Lawrence and Holloman and starring as rifle toting Sheriff Tina Walsh in the much buzzed about horror comedy WolfCop, which exploded into Cineplex theatres this past summer and continues to play all over the world. Past film credits also include her breakout role in New Line Cinema's Just Friends (opposite Ryan Reynolds and Anna Farris), Chained, Ferocious, Stephen King's Dolan's Cadillac, Stranded and the upcoming NSI short Divorce Photographer. Small screen credits include Rookie Blue (Global/ABC), Odd Squad (PBS), inSecurity (CBC), Corner Gas (CTV), Little Mosque (CBC), as well as co-starring in the original Showcase comedy Single White Spenny. An accomplished improviser and known for her "brilliant comedic timing" [LA Weekly], Matysio has been a core member of the
acclaimed General Fools Improv Theatre company since 1997, a main stage player with the Vancouver Theatresports League and a featured performer at improv festivals across North America.
Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan she now makes her home Toronto; where she eats out often and hangs out with her husband, fiddle player/composer Karrnnel Sawitsky.
